Wayne Thiebaud's definition of a thinking drawing is sketching out your ideas before painting them. It helps you figure out how to make the drawings more interesting, like details, and the dynamic compositions. He uses them to figure out his best ideas and details for his painting, and can just simply erase something if he doesn't like it or needs to change it. In his final paintings, he uses the thoughts and ideas that he had from the sketches and uses them in there to help make it his best. In his artwork, "Row of Ties", there's one tie that is separated from the others, it's white with different colored squiggly lines. I think that it's separated from the rest because you can see more of the base color and also it doesn't have straight lines or polka dots like the rest of them do.
